I woke up this morning with this topic on my heart and the next thing I know, the movie title "How Stella Got her Groove Back" pops up in my head. Seriously?! why that movie I wonder. I saw the movie years ago and it's story line has absolutely nothing to do with this topic. Or does it?
Then as I start thinking about the movie plot and title, I realize that it's all about a determination to recover an important part of our lives that we may have lost for whatever reasons. Just like Stella in the movie got her groove back, we all need to be determined to get out praise groove back! We must rediscover any lost part of our lives in Christ and rekindle our dying relationship with God.
Our Praise Is Pertinent.
Our Praise and Worship is an integral part of our communication with God. Without it, let's just say that our prayer life would be as dry as chewing on biscuits (those very dry digestive biscuits type!) without a drink, or as careless as driving on a highway at 20 Kph only, instead of within the mandatory required speed.
We would be like soldiers on a battlefield without a weapon. Yes, praise is a vital weapon of our warfare.
Easy To Lose.
it's easy to lose your praise when life throws it's best punches at you and you don't seem to know how to fight back anymore. It's easy to lose your praise, when you've prayed your best prayers, invoked and exhausted emotions you didn't even know you had, crying out for an answer and yet, heaven remains unmoved. Disappointments, betrayals from loved ones, shattered dreams, dealing with a painful loss, unemployment, and a host of many other of life's daunting distractions can throw you off the horseback of your praise.
Get Your Praise Groove Back!
All these notwithstanding, we must never allow ourselves stay in a praise-less position for too long.
Understand that it's all a distraction strategy to drain your spiritual strength and weaken your prayer life. Without constant praise, we're left unprotected for too long and then vulnerable to attacks on our inner spirit man. We must understand that the devil is constantly plotting our downfall and will go to extreme lengths, to tamper with our relationship with God; this he starts and accomplishes by targeting our inner spirit man.
The bible tells us that, God inhabits the praises of his people (Psalm 22:3). It also tells us that, God has ordained praise (strength) out of our mouths that He may destroy the enemy and the avenger
(Psalm 8:2). Our praise is useful to God for purposes of warfare, for our safety and deliverance.
These are just a few examples of the power and purpose of praise.
When we praise God constantly, even and especially during our trials and troubles, it confuses the enemy. He knows this. So he tries to take away our focus and drain our spiritual strength.
PUSH!
Make that determination today, to set "your face as a flint" (Isaiah 50:7) and praise God like David did.
In his times of trouble, he maintained his stance of adamant trust and faith in Gods promises. He knew he could never be put to shame. David was a praiser and worshiper especially in his troubled times! We must adopt this lifestyle too, knowing that God will bring all his promises to us to fulfillment and all the troubles will pass too! Always remember that, all things, [the very challenges you face now,] will eventually work together for your good. (Romans 8:28)
God has a way of allowing the very troubles we face now, become the bedrock of our testimony and triumph. Your persistent praise under pressure, will overcome the resistant problems.
Praise Until Something Happens!
Be blessed
